In partnership with the Institute of International Education (IIE), the Department of State releases the annual Open Doors Report, which details the statistics about international students in the United States.
The U.S. hosted 1,057,188 international students (degree, non-degree, and OPT)
261,961 were new international students.
The leading places of origin for international students were China, India, South Korea, Canada, and Vietnam.
California, New York, Massachusetts, Texas, and Illinois were the top U.S. states hosting international students.
53% of international students studied a STEM field.
