Lin Larson: "First Friend" to International Students, Colleagues for 24 years

Applying to a university or college in the U.S. can be....intimidating.
Where do you start? Where do you go? Why all the deadlines?
But when you have someone like Lin Larson on the other side helping you out...you know it's going to be OK.
Lin has spent the past 24 years in international education. She is currently the Director of International Recruitment for the College of Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington.
From guiding students through the often complex application and visa processes to helping them find a sense of community in a new country, someone in Lin's position can make all the difference between a dream of studying in the U.S. and making that dream a reality.
And...before she retires in December...she shared her wisdom for future international students.
IMMIGRATION CORNER

Here's a fun fact: Only 8.4% of the U.S. population speaks English "very well."
Maybe it's due to the immigrant nature of the country. Maybe because the U.S. does not have an official language. (Nope, though English is the main language used here.)
Eligible U.S. citizens still have the right to vote, regardless of their English level. Therefore, some parts of the country are required by law to provide non-English voting ballots.
Some languages for voting ballots include: Chinese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Bangladeshi, Navajo, Filipino, and more.
🇺🇲 Presidential Debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris is set for Tues. Sept. 10 at 9 p.m. EDT. Here's how to watch.
STUDYING IN THE U.S.

"Steak" Out the Best Chipotle Prices
If you're studying in the U.S., you may have noticed Chipotle is a go-to meal for many students. Getting a burrito the "size of a human baby" used to be reasonably priced. But now? There's a website dedicated to finding the best price for Chipotle.
It's that serious.
(BTW, is there really just 1 location in Wyoming?)
